2021 Zone Pennant Finals – Grade 6

Last weekend the Grade 6 Pennant Finals were played at Temora Bowling and Recreation Club.

This was played as sectional play in 2 sections 3 teams. The winners of each section would then meet in a Final on Sunday afternoon. The section winners were the teams with the highest number of points. Margins would then be used to determine the winners if teams finished on equal number of points.

In Section 1 we had West Wyalong B&R, Rules Club and Leeton & District and in Section 2, Cootamundra Ex-Services, Club Tumut and North Albury.

Section 1 Round 1 – West Wyalong def Rules Club 65-59 (9-1), Section 2 Round 1 Club Tumut deft Cootamundra 77-33 (10-0)

Section 1 Round 2 Rules Club def Leeton 63-40 (10-0). Section 2 Round 2 North Albury def Cootamundra 66-56 (8-2) thus eliminating Cootamundra from the competition.

Section 1 Round 3 West Wyalong def Leeton 58-55 (8.5-1.5) and in Section 2 Club Tumut def North Albury 83-49 (9-1).

At the end of the 3 rounds of sectional play the final standings for both sections were:

Section 1

1st West Wyalong B&R 17.5 + 9, 2nd Rules Club 11.0 + 17, 3rd Leeton & District 1.5 – 26

Section 2

1st Club Tumut 19 + 78, 2nd North Albury 9.0 – 24, 3rd Cootamundra Ex-Services 2.0 – 54

This meant that the final of the Grade 6 Pennant was between West Wyalong B&R and Club Tumut with West Wyalong B&R winning 72-58 thus snaring the Grade 6 title for 2021 and progressing the Bowls New South Wales State Pennant Finals on the 16th to 18th July at Lorn Park Bowling Club where they will play Braidwood (round 1), Nelson Bay (round 2) and Camden (round 3).
