On Thursday the 21st January the Zone Junior Pairs Championships got under way at The Rock Memorial Bowling Club.
Unfortunately, we only had three teams enter the championships this year.
In the morning game we had the teams of Harry Conroy and Sam Harrison playing Steven Houting and Shakiya Murray. The team of Madison Hazel and Hannah Walker had the bye in the semi-final.
In the semi-final the team of Harry Conroy and Sam Harrison were too good for the team of Steven Houting and Shakiya Murray winning 25-6.
So to the final between Harry Conroy and Sam Harrison vs Madison Hazel and Hannah Walker.
Madison Hazel and Hannah Walker got off to a good start leading 3-0 on 2 ends but then Harry Conroy and Sam Harrison clicked into gear to grab the next 3 ends to lead 9-3 on 5 ends. On the 10th end Harry Conroy and Sam Harrison led by 14-5 and finally grabbed the win by 19-8.
Congratulations to Harry and Sam who now go to Warilla in June and July to represent the Zone in the State Championships.

After the lunch break all the players involved in the championships would be doing battle in the final of the Junior Fours Championships due to only 8 players entering the Fours.
The fours teams doing battle were Brandon Shore, Hannah Walker, Harry Conroy and Sam Harrison vs Will Crampton, Steven Houting, Shakiya Murray and Madison Hazel.
Sam’s team led by 4-0 after 3 ends before Madison’s team got on the board with a 2 on the 4th end. It was neck and neck with both teams tied at 5-5 on 8 ends. Sam collected singles on the 9-11 ends to lead 8-5 on 11 ends before finally running out winners and by 10-7 and giving Sam Harrison the grand slam of Junior titles.
The runners-up team played a mighty game considering they were a team thrown together to make a team.
A big congratulations to all the players involved over the 2 days and to the team of Brandon Shore, Hannah Walker, Harry Conroy and Sam Harrison who now go to Warilla in June and July to represent the Zone in the State Championships.
