2021 Zone Pennant Finals – Grade 7

Last weekend the Grade 7 Pennant Finals were played at Howlong Golf Resort.

This was played as sectional play in 2 sections 3 teams. The winners of each section would then meet in a Final on Sunday afternoon. The section winners were the teams with the highest number of points. Margins would then be used to determine the winners if teams finished on equal number of points.

In Section 1 we had Harden, Henty and Temora Ex-Services and in Section 2, Griffith Exies, Rules Club and Batlow.

Section 1 Round 1 – Henty def Harden 78-40 (9-1), Section 2 Round 1 Rules Club deft Griffith 65-57 (9-1)

Section 1 Round 2 Temora def Harden 76-40 (10-0) thus eliminating Harden from the competition. Section 2 Round 2 Griffith def Batlow 67-60 (9-1).

Section 1 Round 3 Henty def Temora 66-48 (9-1) and in Section 2 Batlow def Rules Club 60-52 (9-1) which left all 3 clubs on 10 points, which meant that the section would be determined on margins with Batlow progressing to the final on a + 1 to Rules Club 0 and Griffith – 1.

At the end of the 3 rounds of sectional play the final standings for both sections were:

Section 1

1st Henty 18.0 + 56, 2nd Temora Ex Services 11.0 + 18, 3rd Harden 1.0 – 74

Section 2

1st Batlow 10 + 1, 2nd Rules Club 10.0 0, 3rd Griffith Exies 10.0 – 1

This meant that the final of the Grade 7 Pennant was between Henty and Batlow with Batlow winning 91-38 thus snaring the Grade 7 title for 2021 and progressing the Bowls New South Wales State Pennant Finals on the 16th to 18th July at Warilla Bowling Club where they will play Hardbord (round 1), Warilla (round 2) and Ingleburn (round 3).
