2021 Zone 8 Junior Singles Championships
After the 2020 Junior Championships were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic we were finally able to get the 2021 events played.
The Championships commenced on Wednesday the 20th January at The Rock Memorial Bowling Club with the Singles being played.
We had 8 players involved in the Singles from various parts of the Zone with a couple of new bowlers taking part.
In Round 1 Madison Hazel defeated Brandon Shore, Will Crampton defeated Shakiya Murray, Sam Harrison defeated Hannah Walker and Harry Conroy defeated Steven Houting.
In the semi-finals Will Crampton defeated Madison Hazel and Sam Harrison defeated Harry Conroy.
In the Final we have the experienced Sam Harrison up against Will Crampton playing in his first junior event after only signing up for bowls before Christmas.
Will jumped out of the gates to lead 5-0 on 2 ends but then Sam started to find his groove and led 7-5 on 5 ends. Will then picked up a 3 to again hit the front to lead 8-7. Sam came back again to pick up shots on the next 3 ends to lead 18-9 on 11 ends. Will then won the next 2 ends to peg Sam back but Sam finally got the job done to eventually run out the winner and Champion by 21-11.
Congratulations to Sam on winning the Singles and I am sure that we will be seeing a lot of Will in the near future.
