Junee Bowling Club crowned Grade 4 State Champions

Last Sunday afternoon @ Port City Bowling Club in Port Macquarie Junee Bowling Club Grade 4 were crowned as the best Grade 4 Pennant club in New South Wales.

It all started back in May by defeating Rules Wagga in the Wagga & District Pennant Final to then progress to the Zone Finals to be played @ Wagga RSL.

Here they defeated Lavington in the semi-final by 64-46 to then play Hay in the Zone Final. Junee went onto defeat Hay by 67-48 to win back to back Grade 4 Zone titles. This meant that Junee progressed to the State Pennant Finals being played @ Port Macquarie last weekend.

And so the State Finals commenced on Friday morning 26th July. In round 1 Junee played Asquith (Zone 9) & won 66-54. Round 2 Junee played Padstow (Zone 12) & won 60-56. Round 3 Junee played Pennant Hills (Zone 10) & won 65-44. Junee qualified for the quarter-finals in 1st place on 26 points.

In the quarter-final Junee were pitted against Campbelltown and won by 61-49 which then put them into the semi-final to be played on Sunday morning.

In the semi-final Junee played South West Rocks and were too good to win by 67-46 which put them into their first ever State Pennant Final where would play Leichhardt.

The Junee boys proved far too good in the final especially Brett Fanning’s team winning their rink 32-11 with Junee winning 68-54 thus winning their first ever State Pennant Title.
